Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton won the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month for October, in which the Cincinnati Bengals went an undefeated 4-0. He's only the third Bengals rookie to win the player of the month award, following running back Corey Dillon (December, '97) and linebacker Odell Thurman (September, '05).
Dalton completed 63.1% of his passes for the month of October (82 of 130) for 909 yards passing, six touchdowns and a passer rating of 83.1. By comparison Carolina Panthers rookie Cam Newton completed 61.2% of his passes (104 of 170) for the month for 1,381 yards passing with 12 touchdowns (seven passing, five rushing) and a passer rating of 88.4. The big difference is Carolina went 1-4 in October.
When asked about it, Dalton said that while it's an honor, he didn't do it by himself. And presumably the award will find a destination inside a box at home.
